Passion Pit are a relatively new group heralding from Cambridge, Mass. Formed in late 2007, the group consists of five members. In 2008 they were voted Best New Act in The Boston Phoenix‘s best new music poll. Not long after they signed to frenchkiss records.
The six song debut EP Chunk of Change was originally a valentines gift to the lead singers then-girlfriend. The band’s first full-length studio album, Manners, was released on May 18, 2009 in the UK and May 19, 2009 in the United States and Canada. The first single from this album is called ‘The Reeling’. peeeeeeep it (kind of like crystal castles/chromeo-ish??)
EDIT: Passion Pit are coming to Toronto @ Lee’s Palace, June 16th 2009
I know its been a few days since the show but i have been busy haha. First off, it was a great show. They played all of their massive tunes and a couple of wonderful surprises. The sound was a little disappointing but from what I know Circa just got a newish sound system and they needed to work some kinks out of it. A “source” told me that the sound could have been fixed in a couple of minutes but that would have meant stopping the jams… and we all know what happens then (hint: no music = fail). I was a little surprised that only half of Chase and Status were there, specifically the Chase half haha but I don’t think it really matters much for this kind of show. I was pleased to hear a little bit of dubstep thrown into the mix but it wasn’t on for long enough haha. I also enjoyed the tracks from Rusko, Noisia, TC, Caspa etc.
A lot of people hate on MC’s at dnb shows but to be honest they do a heck of a job working up the crowd and I don’t care what anyone else says. Much respect to the MC’s (please stop with the “smack it” though!)
At the very end of the set Chase dropped a siiiiick surprise. If you were there then you know what I am talking about and if not then take a little peep here. It isnt the best quality but you get the idea. Also i can see myself lulz.
All in all it was a ridiculous night and I very much enjoyed Lush, Chase & Status and Marcus Visionary. Looking forward to seeing them again.
One Last Video here but it isnt from the same show…
p.s. circa had the most intense searches before a show that i have ever been too haha
Biiiiig news for all you dubstep fans out there. Two of the founders of the genre are coming to Toronto this weekend!
14-JUN-09 SKREAM + BENGA @ WRONGBAR 19+ $18.50
Skream was one of dubsteps first and most prominent producers. He began producing music at the age of 15 (using fruity loops) and claims to have roughly 1400 songs in varying stages of development!
Benga is a dubstep producer from Croydon, South London, and is part of the Tempa and Big Apple Records label. He has been described as an important name in the development of the dubstep style for his fusion of the already existing South London dubstep sound with the newer East London born grime sound, and was also one of the first dubstep producers when the style was emerging in the early 2000s (thanks wiki)

On Thursday July 9th after a two year wait Toronto was graced once again with the bombastic sounds of Beirut. The openers for the night were the psych-rock duo The Dodos who played about a 45min set showcasing some of their more well known tunes including this one here.
As the venue started to fill and the tension start to rise the main act finally hit the stage and bombarded the crowd with all of their favorite tracks. This was the first time that Zach Condon had been back to Toronto since October 2007 and after the scare last year (Zach took a break and canceled all tours for almost a year) it almost seemed like they would never come back again. If you do not know much about this group then read on :P
- thanks wiki
I noticed the last time that I saw them was that they encourage the fans to bring cameras and recording equipment to the shows. Very cool idea! If only I had remembered this time haha. Anyways, for the record Beirut puts on one of the best live shows that I have seen. You wont ever understand unless you go to see them for yourself.
I could have sworn that I put some of the following videos up sometime last spring but I cant seem to find them anymore so here you go.
I am fucking tired but it has been a little while since I have put up new stuff so even though this song isn’t new per say it is a new remix so STFU and check it. If you like it and want it then grab the download from the link below the movie. West coast Canada reppin

Hailing from the mid-west, DJ Sw@t is a non-stop bass making machine. Since her debut in 2005, Sw@t has played live shows nationwide, has hosted her own radio shows (KrisisDnB, Global Vortex), has her own production company (Hi-Rev) and founded the DNB Girls of Canada Collective. Producing and playing drum and bass, dubstep and a variety of other genres keeps DJ Sw@t busy as hell. I feel lucky to have pinned her down in the hot seat for a VikingSays exclusive interview! This bit is chock-full of previews, mixes and links to the projects DJ Sw@t is pumping out in 2012. Don’t miss this vixen in action!Read More...[..]
